Review by hotel critic
Yupoppo in Hakone is a gem for those seeking solitude and comfort without breaking the bank. Nestled away from the bustling crowds, its peaceful setting makes it ideal for anyone looking for a tranquil escape. During our stay, the clean and thoughtfully designed room provided all the essentials, including a flat-screen TV, electric kettle, and complimentary toiletries. While the mini-bar was basic, it added to the convenience, allowing us to unwind with a drink after our day's adventures. The real highlight for us was the private onsen. After a long day of hiking, soaking in the hot spring bath felt rejuvenating. The friendly owner, Dai, went out of his way to ensure our comfort. His hospitality extended to providing homemade cakes upon arrival and an authentic breakfast that showcased local flavors - a great value, given the quality. If you're weighing the cost against luxury, Yupoppo offers a good balance. You won't find many resorts that combine such personal service, serene surroundings, and modern amenities at this price point. For anyone visiting Hakone, I'd recommend considering Yupoppo as a value-driven choice for a rejuvenating getaway.
